ZAHRA VAN NGUYEN
ZAHRA VAN NGUYEN is a London based choreographer and artist who's practice bridges movement, visual art, installation and written composition to create experimental, durational performances that seek to re-contextualise our understanding of the body and to uncover it's paradoxes. Her work is deeply rooted in exploring the body not just as a physical tool, but as a site of memory, resistance, and transformation.
Her most recent work 'SPITFIRE'  developed at London Performance Studios, focuses on the ever-changing process of sacrifice and mourning in the context of survival - drawing in on the commonalities of dance and combat and how the rhythms of constant loss and gain create emotional silhouettes that we seem to morph through infinitely, she uses movement to express the raw, strange beauty of struggle.
"Zahra Van Nguyen presents Spitfire, a boxing ritual that packs as much emotional punch as it does physical. Expect movement, narrative experimentation and soundscapes that make you feel things you weren't prepared for." LONDONITE
Zahra also works as a movement director across music, fashion, and editorial, collaborating with artists like Tohji and Varg2™M and lending her physical sensibility to visual campaigns for brands like Shayne Oliver Group and Issey Miyake. Zahra's work consistently challenges the boundaries of dance. Her movement is not about clean technique, but about embodying feeling, friction, and ferality. Zahra's been featured in platforms like Dazed 100, and recognised for her ability to shift between dance, visual art, and fashion while maintaining a voice that is deeply intimate, politically charged, and spiritually raw.
